Ibsen in Saskatchewan
This summer we found more Ibsen-places over there, this time in Saskatchewan in Canada. On Highway 39, which goes from the U.S. border south east of Estevan and up to Moose Jaw, there was a small town called Ibsen. The town is no longer on the roadmaps, but we found it on an old map from the late 1960'ies.(more)
Ibsen, the town, was between Lang and Yellow Grass. Some people called it just a signal post, but some people told us that it used to be a grain elevator there. The railway goes through Ibsen, the town.
Quite a few people from Nordfjord in Norway homesteaded in Lang, just north of Ibsen. Hopefully some of their descendants are able to find out who decided to name the town Ibsen. It would be very interesting to know.
